Usually these doodles are a mass of figures interacting with one another some how. Sometimes the mass of shapes and figures become one symbol, and I find it interesting, as this one symbol is often a body in it's own right be it an arm, a set a legs or a torso. Then it's fun to look within this body outline at the shapes inside and find any other correlations. Hey, that's my spleen! What is it doing there?

Sacred Spaces
Early Sunday morning on December 11th, I was listening to an interview with me on a radio show called Sacred Space with George Rideout. We talked about the inspiration for my art, influences and where ideas come from, as well as death, the law of As Above So Below and the bridge between subjective and objective consciousness. These doodles above were done while I was listening to all of my ums and you knows.

Slipstream
This one above that says 'me' is a little different.By not being on the phone it's just a doodle. I don't usually try and do anything specific but because of the automatic response and patterning that results, they usually become very figurative to me. In this one instance I deliberately put out the notion that I was going to 'doodle' a 4-legged animal but I believe this was already after I had seen the person beside it.

CALL ME... on the telephone
Telephone drawings. Yes I said telephone, and not cell phone. But considering the content, I suppose these are more on a cellular level and I should get with the program. But if I had a cell phone, I would be moving around and therefore not doodling. Crazy as this may sound, but at home, we still have a rotary style phone. My children's friends don't know how to use it! Mind you, they don't know how to read our clock with a face either.
Here are a set of drawings all from the same page of my phone doodler companion notebook.

Rhyme And No Reason
Ride the Wave
Here are some recent Ink Pen doodles that I have done, or should I say finished. They could all go on forever but there is a point in time that you know it's time is done. These drawings can go on for months some times because you just don't feel a connecting place to attach your pen and so you go flipping through your sketch book for another available doodle. Sometimes only a single mark is made in a sitting and other times your immersed for an hour. I still get lost while looking at these, so I hope you can too. There is a lot going on in some of these, so just when you think you've seen it all, turn your monitor upside down....or sideways and have another look.

Conversensations
Sometimes the only drawing I get to do in a day is through doodling. One of the best times to doodle is while I'm on the phone. I do not have a cell phone, so I am very stationary when I am on the phone and unlike some other people I know, I can't work while I'm on the phone, but, I can doodle.
These are small drawings that often are very figurative in that there are always bodies/people in these drawings. These are the shapes that naturally come out. I'm not thinking so much about it all because I am supposed to be listening to the person at the other end of the wire.
I always think that these drawings are being influenced by the person I am talking to and each is somehow specific to that person. I have yet to compile the drawings I've done to go with the same person, but that day will come. I've been doing this for years now and it's a whole world unto itself.

Waiting...
Waiting for a Breath Grenades show to start - Winnipeg - Ellice Theatre - 11.08.20
Believe it or not. Automatic people. My doodles have changed over the years. Most all the time now, my waiting-breath doodles and phone doodles become people or they are about people. It's a pattern that grew over time. You can even say that they evolved over time to where they just come out this way. And no two people are alike. Who are they and what they are doing will be discussed in further notes.
